His corporate quality innovations are helping Panama City to shine with new design concepts, including: 360 Degrees at the Canal, GoGo Beach, Santa Maria Golf and Country Club, Patronato Panama Viejo, Denovo, Zetta, The Bristol Hotel, Limoncillo, and Desarrollo Turistico Buenaventura. Mr. Arango’s unique imaginings and creative freshness decorate Panama’s skyline with well-managed developments moving toward a world class future skyline.

Particularly intriguing is the architect’s interest in the archeological site projects surrounding Patronato Panama Viejo. The Panama Viejo site in Panama City was made a World Heritage site in 2003. Heritage is defined as our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural and natural heritage are both irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration.

Panamá Viejo is the oldest European settlement on the Pacific coast of the Americas. It was laid out on a rectilinear grid and marks the transference from Europe of the idea of a planned town. It is alleged to have originally been a much older community, and the archeological findings have verified those allegations. Some of the recovered items from the active archeological dig at Panama Viejo are astonishingly beautiful, and remarkably old. Perhaps they have contributed to the sense of timelessness in Mr. Arango’s architectural designs.

Bijao Resort – The CommunityAugust 5th, 2008

image001 300x160 Bijao Resort – The Community

The site plans for Bijao Resort show an insightful balance between classic beauty and contemporary style. It is said that the appearance of the community was inspired by the construction style of Panama’s Canal Era buildings, interpreted by Harvard educated Gustavo Arango.

Perceptively the overall community design is contemporary in many ways, but the building shapes are reminiscent of an earlier era. In perspective, there is symmetry inherent in the design, which intrinsically creates a feeling of balance. Because of this design, most all of the residents of Bijao will look out at an unobstructed ocean view of the pristine waters of the Pacific Ocean.

image004 Bijao Resort – The Community

The Town Centre concept in Bijao will offer a relaxing ambiance with a restaurant, a coffee shop, a book shop, a deli and a wine store which will allow residents, their guests and guests of the hotel to mingle and meet. Town Centre will be built in the shape of a horseshoe and there will be casual seating areas around a large central fountain.

The 300 room, four star, all inclusive Breezes Hotel is scheduled to open in February, 2009. Super Clubs Breezes Hotel will be offering residents an opportunity to include their property in the hotel rental pool, for Super Clubs rental management.

BIJAO’s exclusive Beach Club will feature two ‘Bohio-style’ buildings, joined by a trellised walkway. Residents can unwind at Bijao’s opulent Wellness Spa with private Turkish bath and steam rooms, or enroll in a beachside yoga-pilates class at the state-of-the-art workout facility. Bijao spared no expense to create an ambiance that invigorates, energizes, and excites. Tennis courts, entertainment center, water sports and seven foot wide hiking trails and beachside pools are scattered throughout the tropically landscaped grounds.

Fifty five per cent of Bijao’s acreage is designated to green areas, complemented by a natural lake. For the golf enthusiast, Bijao will be home to a 9 hole course designed by world-renowned golf course architect Ron Garl. A golf membership is included in the price of every purchase at BIJAO, and the course will remain private. You will tee-up at Bijao to find a short, but challenging course, offering beautiful views.
